How to read this definition

Inclusion criteria describe evidence that can establish this activity. Exclusion criteria identify circumstances that do not establish it on that basis alone. The evaluation remains connected to its taxonomy version and supporting evidence.

Can establish this activity

Included when supported

Evidence may support involvement when it matches one or more of these inclusion criteria.

11 criteria
  1. 01Criterion

Complete Depleted Uranium Weapons or Gun Systems

Defined as: Companies and other entities that develop, manufacture, or produce a complete weapon or gun system incorporating depleted uranium as a dedicated military weapon material or functional component.

  2. 02Criterion

Dedicated Depleted Uranium Weapon Components and Penetrator Assemblies

Defined as: Companies and other entities that develop or produce depleted uranium penetrators, penetrator assemblies, liners, or other components specifically designed, significantly modified, or directly integrated for a military weapon or munition function.

  3. 03Criterion

Sale, Supply, or Contracted Delivery of Depleted Uranium Weapons

Defined as: Companies and other entities that sell, supply, broker, or deliver a depleted uranium weapon, gun system, or dedicated weapon component under a product-specific military or government contract.

  4. 04Criterion

Product-Specific Procurement, Delivery, or Trade Evidence for Depleted Uranium Weapons

Defined as: Companies and other entities identified in official procurement, contract, delivery, export, or trade records for an exact depleted uranium weapon, gun system, or dedicated component. Broad reporting or list membership alone is insufficient.

  5. 05Criterion

Production of Depleted Uranium Munitions, Projectiles, or Penetrators

Defined as: Companies and other entities that develop, manufacture, or assemble ammunition, projectiles, rounds, shells, penetrators, or other munitions containing depleted uranium for a military weapon function.

  6. 06Criterion

Manufacture of Depleted Uranium-Containing Projectiles and Penetrators

Defined as: Companies and other entities that develop or manufacture armour-piercing rounds, shells, projectiles, or penetrators containing depleted uranium.

  7. 07Criterion

Production or Assembly of Complete Depleted Uranium Munitions

Defined as: Companies and other entities that manufacture or assemble complete depleted uranium munitions, including the depleted uranium penetrator or payload and the associated munition configuration.

  8. 08Criterion

Sale, Supply, or Contracted Delivery of Depleted Uranium Munitions

Defined as: Companies and other entities that sell, supply, broker, export, or deliver depleted uranium ammunition under a product-specific military or government contract.

  9. 09Criterion

Supply of Depleted Uranium Munitions or Dedicated Components to Armed Forces

Defined as: Companies and other entities with verified direct supply of depleted uranium munitions, penetrators, or dedicated components to armed forces or another identified military end user.

  10. 10Criterion

Corroborated Procurement or Trade Evidence for Depleted Uranium Munitions

Defined as: Companies and other entities identified in official procurement, contract, delivery, export, or trade records for an exact depleted uranium munition or dedicated component, supported by product- and entity-specific evidence. List membership alone is insufficient.

  11. 11Criterion

Depleted Uranium Weapons or Gun Systems Without Ammunition Manufacture

Defined as: Companies and other entities that develop, manufacture, integrate, sell, or supply a complete weapon or gun system with a verified depleted uranium function even where they do not manufacture the associated ammunition.

Does not establish this activity on its own

Excluded on this basis alone

These circumstances do not establish this activity unless separate evidence also meets an inclusion criterion.

9 criteria
  1. 01Criterion

Delivery Platforms Without a Depleted Uranium Weapon or Munition Role

Defined as: Companies and other entities that manufacture tanks, aircraft, naval platforms, vehicles, or other delivery platforms capable of carrying or firing depleted uranium products but do not develop, produce, integrate, sell, or supply the depleted uranium weapon, munition, or dedicated component.

  2. 02Criterion

Generic System Integration Without a Depleted Uranium-Specific Deliverable

Defined as: Companies and other entities that install or integrate general weapon systems without a documented depleted uranium-specific product, material, component, or engineering deliverable.

  3. 03Criterion

Raw Depleted Uranium or Non-Weapon Components Without a Documented Weapon Nexus

Defined as: Companies and other entities that mine, recover, refine, process, store, or supply depleted uranium or general components without evidence of knowing, product-specific supply to a depleted uranium weapon or munition programme.

  4. 04Criterion

Historical-Only Depleted Uranium Weapon or Component Involvement

Defined as: Entities with verified past development, production, assembly, sale, supply, transfer, or programme involvement in depleted uranium weapons or dedicated components, where reliable evidence establishes that the qualifying activity has fully ceased, been divested, transferred, dismantled, terminated, or otherwise ended and no current qualifying involvement remains. Historical-only activity does not qualify as current involvement. Preserve the historical record separately with the activity period, effective cessation or transfer date, relevant entity, product, programme, facility, or contract, and supporting evidence. Absence of recent evidence alone is not sufficient to establish cessation.

  5. 05Criterion

Conventional or Non-Depleted-Uranium Weapons and Munitions

Defined as: Companies and other entities that produce weapons or ammunition using tungsten, lead, steel, or other materials without depleted uranium content.

  6. 06Criterion

Raw Depleted Uranium Supply Without Knowing Programme-Specific Weapon End Use

Defined as: Companies and other entities that provide raw or high-purity depleted uranium without evidence that the supply was knowingly made for an identified depleted uranium weapon, munition, penetrator, or dedicated component.

  7. 07Criterion

Generic Components Without Depleted Uranium Integration

Defined as: Companies and other entities that produce general-purpose casings, fuzes, propellants, explosives, barrels, vehicles, or other components without directly integrating depleted uranium or providing a dedicated depleted uranium function.

  8. 08Criterion

Historical-Only Depleted Uranium Munition or Dedicated-Component Involvement

Defined as: Entities with verified past production, assembly, sale, supply, transfer, or programme involvement in depleted uranium munitions, penetrators, or dedicated components, where reliable evidence establishes that the qualifying activity has fully ceased, been divested, transferred, dismantled, terminated, or otherwise ended and no current qualifying involvement remains. Historical-only activity does not qualify as current involvement. Preserve the historical record separately with the activity period, effective cessation or transfer date, relevant entity, product, programme, facility, or contract, and supporting evidence. Absence of recent evidence alone is not sufficient to establish cessation.

  9. 09Criterion

Disposal, Cleanup, Decommissioning, or Remediation Without Qualifying Depleted Uranium Weapon Involvement

Defined as: Companies and other entities whose role is limited to demilitarization, disposal, cleanup, environmental remediation, decommissioning, medical assessment, or waste management and that do not otherwise develop, produce, supply, transfer, stockpile, or use qualifying depleted uranium weapons or munitions.
