Inclusion criteria describe evidence that can establish this activity. Exclusion criteria identify circumstances that do not establish it on that basis alone. The evaluation remains connected to its taxonomy version and supporting evidence.
Included when supported
Evidence may support involvement when it matches one or more of these inclusion criteria.
- 01Criterion
Include entities that own or operate farms breeding or raising animals principally for commercial fur or pelts.
- 02Criterion
Include manufacturers and brand owners that directly manufacture, commission, or control production of apparel, trim, footwear, accessories, or furnishings containing real fur.
- 03Criterion
Include companies that intentionally source, specify, or control use of exotic skins from reptiles, crocodilians, snakes, ostriches, or other non-standard species for commercial products.
- 04Criterion
Include processors, tanners, dressers, dyers, finishers, and auction or aggregation businesses directly handling fur pelts or exotic hides as a material activity.
- 05Criterion
Include luxury-goods and consumer-product manufacturers with direct sourcing or product responsibility for real fur or exotic animal materials.
- 06Criterion
Include commercial breeders, hunters, trappers, and suppliers whose direct purpose is supplying fur or exotic-skin markets.
Excluded on this basis alone
These circumstances do not establish this activity unless separate evidence also meets an inclusion criterion.
- 01Criterion
Exclude synthetic, plant-based, recycled non-animal, and faux fur or exotic-leather alternatives.
- 02Criterion
Exclude cattle, sheep, goat, pig, and other ordinary livestock leather that is a by-product of the food system, unless the selected client policy also covers conventional leather.
- 03Criterion
Exclude retailers selling only third-party finished products where they lack private-label, sourcing, manufacturing, or material commercial responsibility; diversified-retailer thresholds are client-policy overlays.
- 04Criterion
Exclude second-hand, vintage, consignment, repair, and resale activity where no new fur or exotic product is produced or sourced.
- 05Criterion
Exclude wildlife conservation, rescue, rehabilitation, sanctuary, and anti-poaching organizations without commercial fur or exotic-skin activity.
- 06Criterion
Exclude current involvement where reliable evidence establishes that the entity has fully ceased and prohibited real fur and exotic animal materials; preserve historical involvement and effective dates.
