Include outsourced or supplier-performed testing where the evaluated entity requests, specifies, pays for, relies on, or retains decision-making control over the animal study.
- 04Criterion
Include non-medical animal testing regardless of whether the jurisdiction permits alternatives; record the legal requirement and alternative-method status separately.
- 05Criterion
Include involvement supported by reliable company disclosure, regulatory records, study records, supplier documentation, or credible investigation that identifies the entity and testing role.
- 06Criterion
Include animal testing conducted to satisfy a mandatory non-medical regulatory or legal requirement; record the governing requirement and jurisdiction as evidence rather than treating it as a separate activity screen.

Exclude testing whose documented purpose is development, safety assessment, or regulatory approval of human pharmaceuticals, biologics, vaccines, or medical devices; classify it under Animal Testing for Medical Products.
- 02Criterion
Exclude in vitro, in silico, organoid, human-cell, microphysiological, clinical, observational, and other non-animal methods.
- 03Criterion
Exclude retailers, distributors, licensors, and brand owners that neither conduct nor commission testing and lack control over testing decisions, unless supplier-testing attribution is separately established under the client policy.
- 04Criterion
Exclude current involvement where reliable evidence establishes that the relevant products and operations use no animal testing; preserve any verified historical testing separately.
