Inclusion criteria describe evidence that can establish this activity. Exclusion criteria identify circumstances that do not establish it on that basis alone. The evaluation remains connected to its taxonomy version and supporting evidence.
Included when supported
Evidence may support involvement when it matches one or more of these inclusion criteria.
- 01Criterion
Include operators or commercial controllers of circuses, travelling shows, or staged performances using live animals.
- 02Criterion
Include operators of marine parks, aquariums, or attractions using cetaceans, pinnipeds, or other aquatic animals in performances, rides, or direct-interaction entertainment.
- 03Criterion
Include attractions and tourism operators offering direct contact, riding, petting, bathing, handling, feeding, photography, or other close interaction with wild or exotic animals as a commercial service.
- 04Criterion
Include zoos, safari parks, aquariums, or animal parks where live-animal performance or entertainment is a material commercial offering; conservation and accreditation status are recorded separately.
- 05Criterion
Include operators, outfitters, brokers, and travel businesses that organize or sell trophy hunting, captive hunting, or comparable commercial hunting experiences.
- 06Criterion
Include tourism, recreation, or transport businesses using animals as a central commercial attraction or conveyance, with species and activity recorded.
- 07Criterion
Include film, television, advertising, event, and production companies that directly use live animals in a qualifying commercial performance where the entity controls or commissions the use; ordinary incidental depiction is excluded.
Excluded on this basis alone
These circumstances do not establish this activity unless separate evidence also meets an inclusion criterion.
- 01Criterion
Exclude genuine rescue, rehabilitation, sanctuary, or conservation operations where entertainment or commercial interaction is not a material purpose; accreditation is supporting evidence rather than an automatic test.
- 02Criterion
Exclude non-invasive wildlife viewing and regulated eco-tourism that does not involve captive performance, direct handling, feeding, riding, hunting, or staged interaction.
- 03Criterion
Exclude legitimate service-animal, assistance-animal, and clinically supervised animal-assisted therapy programmes.
- 04Criterion
Exclude ordinary agricultural exhibitions, livestock shows, equestrian sport, and fairs unless the selected client policy expressly covers them or a separate qualifying exploitation activity is evidenced.
- 05Criterion
Exclude ordinary pet ownership, veterinary care, grooming, boarding, daycare, training, and companion-animal services.
- 06Criterion
Exclude productions using animation, computer-generated imagery, stock footage, props, or other alternatives without direct use of live animals.
- 07Criterion
Exclude wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, release, anti-trafficking, and conservation organizations without a qualifying commercial entertainment activity.
