Inclusion criteria describe evidence that can establish this activity. Exclusion criteria identify circumstances that do not establish it on that basis alone. The evaluation remains connected to its taxonomy version and supporting evidence.
Included when supported
Evidence may support involvement when it matches one or more of these inclusion criteria.
- 01Criterion
Include oil or gas producers that operate wells in which high-pressure hydraulic fracturing is used for commercial stimulation or completion.
- 02Criterion
Include shale, tight-oil, tight-gas, or other upstream producers only where hydraulic-fracturing use is verified; geology alone does not establish inclusion.
- 03Criterion
Include specialized contractors that directly execute hydraulic-fracturing treatments, including pressure-pumping and field fracturing operations.
- 04Criterion
Include manufacturers or suppliers of fracturing fluids, proppants, or chemical systems only where the product is specifically formulated or contractually dedicated for hydraulic-fracturing operations and the direct application is documented.
- 05Criterion
Include operators of specialized fracturing spreads and field equipment only where the entity directly conducts the fracturing service; ordinary equipment manufacturing or leasing is excluded.
- 06Criterion
Include integrated oil and gas companies where current hydraulic-fracturing operations are directly evidenced.
Excluded on this basis alone
These circumstances do not establish this activity unless separate evidence also meets an inclusion criterion.
- 01Criterion
Exclude conventional or unconventional production when the available evidence does not establish the use of hydraulic fracturing.
- 02Criterion
Exclude general drilling, completion, cementing, wireline, water, logistics, equipment, or oilfield services without a specialized direct fracturing role.
- 03Criterion
Exclude processing, liquefaction, transport, storage, distribution, trading, refining, and power generation without direct fracturing operations.
- 04Criterion
Exclude general water-treatment, sand, ceramic, chemical, or industrial suppliers without a specifically designed or contractually dedicated fracturing product.
- 05Criterion
Exclude geothermal, carbon-storage, mining, and other non-fossil applications of hydraulic stimulation unless the client policy expressly extends beyond oil and gas.
- 06Criterion
Exclude ceased hydraulic-fracturing activity from current involvement while preserving verified historical involvement and cessation dates.
